Every time I look in the mirror, I notice some physical imperfections in me. There are times when I regret my shortcomings or imperfections of character after I fail to respond to a situation in a emotionally balanced way.
Our flaws and how we perceive them, it’s one of the topics that I always wanted to talk about.
We see ourselves as imperfect because we fall short of what we think, believe or expect to be perfect. We fall short of the notion or idea we have in our head that we have built ourselves or that was handed down to us by society. We live in a society where idealistic perfection is preset in each one’s mind. It’s difficult to ignore the load of expectations and we begin to question our own personality and looks.
The target of reaching perfection is exhausting and no matter how hard we try, we will always wonder, “Log kya kahege?” , “What will people think?”
There is nothing bad in trying to be our best or make the best out of our life with our abilities or talents. What hurts is when we are compelled to meet some mental idea of what it is to be perfect.
Instead of looking at our flaws as drawbacks we should embrace them. To be imperfect is the most natural thing to be because we are imperfect and always will be. I believe Perfection is in fact an illusion.

I think some of the most beautiful things are those that are scarred, consider the moon or the universe for example! Our uniqueness is a gift. It allows us to stand out in a crowd. It is even possible that what we see as a flaw in ourselves is seen as an incredibly desirable characteristic by others. And moreover the definition of beauty keeps on changing with time. Just think, not long ago freckles were viewed as a peculiar feature, now they’re a major sign of beauty.
Self-love comes from celebrating our-self and our individuality. Let us always remember that perfection does not exist and neither do perfect people. We are all made of flaws and marks like bits and pieces which build our soul. Each of our paths in life are completely different. Without individuality and diverse features, don’t you think that life would be pretty boring! How frustrating would it be to see the same attributes all around!
Flaws are like moles on our body; their presence always makes us stand out. We love our moles as they add a touch of beauty and uniqueness to our persona. Same is with flaws, they add individuality to us.
We are suck to achieve perfection for one very simple reason: We believe that if we live perfect and look perfect, we can avoid criticism from random people.
But why are we so paralyzed by what other people think?
People will always talk, let them talk! Its their right ! What matters is; we don’t let their criticism affect us. When we learn to stay happy in our own skin, nothing else really matters. I will summarize with one of my favorite lines that I happened to read somewhere;
“Be Yourself, Everyone else is already taken “
